Please support Becca’s Closet’s fashion show and raffle

Many of you are familiar with the Niagara County outlet of Becca’s Closet which is run by our friend and volunteer Paula Travis and her friends at Gasport’s Zion Lutheran Church. They also have a distribution center located in our Liberty Drive, Wheatfield office space. This is the organization that donates prom dresses and accessories to young ladies in need. Paula and her team will be holding a fashion show and basket raffle this weekend in Lockport. It’s the only annual fundraiser for Becca’s Closet. Please show them some support. They impact many families across Niagara...

Meet our third shift veterans

We like to think that we do Veterans Day the right way at Confer Plastics. To recognize the folks who DESERVE to have Veterans Day off, only Confer Plastics and Adecco personnel who are veterans or currently serving in the armed forces are receiving this Friday off and the holiday pay that comes with it. The rest of the workforce will be working. We do this to recognize the men and women who risked life, limb, and livelihood to ensure that we all have the freedoms that we enjoy. These individuals will be made conspicuous by their absence at the plant, which will really hammer home the value that these folks have to our company AND our country. The gentlemen on our third shift who were members of our armed forces are Fred Greene and Stan Knight. We thank Fred and Stan for keeping America — and the world —...

Saves For a Cure jersey auction nets $7,000

Confer Plastics’ vice-president Bob Confer is a 1996 graduate of SUNY College at Brockport. In the years since, he has maintained a close relationship with the College, especially the ice hockey program. Once again this year, Confer Plastics helped with a charity important to the program — Saves For a Cure. Saves for a Cure is a non-profit, charitable organization started by Bob’s friend Todd Sheridan (class of 2011), a former Brockport goalie and one of Brockport’s all-time greatest players. Todd holds is the College’s all-time leader in goals-against average (3.07), career wins (29) and saves percentage (.904). In 2005 Todd was diagnosed with cancer, given a 70% chance of survival and told he’d never play hockey again. Todd beat cancer and the odds and then had quite the career at Brockport, as made evident by his career numbers and the team’s first-ever playoff victories which occurred with Todd in net. With his success story as its backdrop, Saves For a Cure oversees a variety of fundraisers, including the annual Saves For a Cure games. All proceeds from any Saves For a Cure event or activity go to the children’s cancer clinic at Strong Memorial Hospital. The Brockport men’s ice hockey team hosted its seventh annual Saves For a Cure weekend on Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th when their rivals Geneseo and Canton came to town. The highlight of the games was an auction whereby fans bid on the special jerseys being worn during each of the two games. Confer Plastics helped purchase the jerseys. Our logo appeared on all of the Saves For a Cure jerseys, right where the captain’s...
