Confer looking to hire engineering intern for the summer months

Confer Plastics has available a paid internship for a student currently enrolled in engineering at an accredited college or university.  This internship will take place between the spring and fall semesters of 2019. We anticipate the position beginning May 20th, 2019 and lasting until August 16th, 2019. Based on what needs to be accomplished, this could extend into future semester breaks if the intern is interested.

It is a full-time position, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.

There are quite a few tasks that we would like the intern to work on. The exposure to multiple facets of the operations will give the intern valuable experience. The workload we are looking to have completed is as follows:

Mold Data – collect and record the following data and information regarding our production molds.

  • Physical size – height, width, length. Calculate and mark the weight of each mold.
  • Mold accessories – compile information on pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. Collect data on all mold inserts. Reverse engineer and create drawings for a data base on mold pins & bushings, punches, blow pins and blow needles.
  • Images – collect images on all aspects of the molds.
  • Numbering system – develop and implement an intelligent mold numbering system to identify our production molds.
  • Develop a database on all mold drawings.
  • Enter data on all mold modifications and service as it occurs.

 

Router Data – collect and record the following data and information regarding our production routers.

  • Manufactures information – collect and compile router information regarding make, model, size and capacity.
  • Programs – collect and compile in a central database all current production programs. Develop a logical, searchable file name system. Collect and correlate all program files as they pertain to each specific customer.
  • Instruction Set – develop a logical comprehensive set of written operator instructions to walk the operator through the basics of troubleshooting and setting up each machine in the event of an on the floor problem.

 

Utility Mapping – collect and record the following data and information regarding our facility utilities.

  • Electrical – create a one line drawing showing all of our major electrical distribution systems. Collect and compile manufactures data on all distribution panels, transformers, switchgear, safety disconnects, fuses and breaker boxes.
  • City water – create a one line drawing showing the distribution of city water throughout the plant. Collect and compile critical information regarding valve locations and line sizes.
  • Chilled water – create a one line drawing showing the distribution of the chilled water system throughout the plant. Collect and compile critical information regarding valve locations and line sizes.
  • Compressed air – create a one line drawing showing the distribution of the compressed air system throughout the plant. Collect and compile critical information regarding valve locations and line sizes. Collect and compile manufactures data on all air compressors, compressed air dryers, condensate removal equipment and receiver tanks.
  • Fire protection sprinkler system – create a one line drawing showing the distribution of the fire protection sprinkler system throughout the plant. Collect and compile critical information regarding valve locations and line sizes.
  • Fire Extinguishers – create a drawing showing the location, type and capacity of all our hand held fire extinguishers.
  • Emergency lighting systems – create a drawing showing the location and condition of all of our emergency lighting equipment.
  • HVAC Equipment – create a drawing showing the location, manufacture, type and capacity of all our HVAC equipment servicing the facility.
  • Exterior lighting – create a drawing showing the location of all our exterior lighting fixtures.

 

Preventative Maintenance Information – collect and record the following data and information.

  • Equipment inventory – develop a comprehensive database of our equipment inventory. Manufacture, model, type, capacity and basic images shall be collected on all production and support equipment.
  • Thermal imaging – capture IR thermal imaging of all operating electrical control components to detect maintenance issues.
  • Lubrication – develop a database for our mechanical driven equipment regarding lubricants and grease requirements. Information shall include manufactures recommendations regarding change outs and capacities.
  • Drive belts – compile a list of all drive belt requirements for all of our mechanically driven equipment.
