Gratwick Park sits across the street from our factory and it is a real jewel on the Niagara River. Unfortunately, it has been underutilized by boaters (and some who have used it have been ticketed) because visitors and tourists would find that they’d have to go to City Hall during business hours to get a season pass. Today, Bob Confer had a meeting with North Tonawanda city officials about my proposal to fix that: Confer Plastics would give the city seed money to invest in a ticket kiosk for launch passes that would be installed at Gratwick. They were excited about the idea and the generosity. In our view, it gives families access to the Niagara River, helps boost tourism, and creates a new revenue stream for the city. Now, they just have to get official approval from the City Council but it’s more than likely a go. It will be good to look out of our conference room windows and see many, many more families enjoying the beautiful Niagara River!
