For our coworkers: 2018 holidays and shutdown week

FOR OUR COWORKERS: 2018 holidays and shutdown week

Many of you now have 2018 calendars, so it’s a good time to mark our days off through the year. You will notice that there are 3 extra paid holidays in 2018 due to when the standard, accompanying holidays fall in the work week.

Monday, January 1st: New Year’s

Friday, March 30th: Good Friday

Monday, May 28th: Memorial Day

Monday, July 2nd through Wednesday, July 4th: The 3rd and 4th are paid holidays in 2018 (usually, it’s just the 4th). The 2nd is not and that is because Saturday, July 7th will be mandatory so there are 3 days of production that week (which would give you a 5-day paycheck). It is not feasible to open the plant for just 1 or 2 days at a time, hence the need for that Saturday

Monday, August 27th through Friday, August 31st: The annual plant shutdown and maintenance week. Your vacation time will already be pre-scheduled for this week

Monday, September 3rd: Labor Day

Monday, November 12th: Veteran’s Day – FOR VETERANS ONLY

Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd: Thanksgiving

Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th: Christmas Eve and Christmas (the former being an extra paid holiday in 2018)

Monday, December 31st: New Year’s Eve (an extra paid holiday)
