Confer receives NYPA power; is set to expand

On September 29th, 2015 the New York Power Authority granted to Confer Plastics, Inc. 400 kilowatts of low-cost hydropower to support a $2.6 million expansion project that will create 24 jobs at our factory in North Tonawanda, pushing total employment to more than 200 employees.

This electrical package cements our purchase of a new blow molding machine. It will be one of the largest in North America and will be capable of manufacturing products in excess of 120 pounds in weight and 14 feet in length. The new equipment, which is scheduled to go into operation this coming winter, will allow us to produce a wide variety of very large Confer-branded and custom products.

Vice-president Bob Confer said, “We truly appreciate the Power Authority’s support because this allocation of hydropower helps us rein in production costs in what is otherwise a notoriously high-cost state to do business. The cost certainty allows us to offer our customers – and theirs – quality goods at affordable prices, ensuring we keep and grow jobs in the Empire State.”
